2019-04-01docs: do not document the `git remote-testgit` commandJohannes Schindelin1-30/+0
Since 7ded055401 (build: do not install git-remote-testgit, 2013-06-07), we do not install it. Therefore it makes no sense to document it, either. Signed-off-by: Johannes Schindelin <johannes.schindelin@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2019-04-01docs: move gitremote-helpers into section 7Johannes Schindelin1-1/+1
It is currently in section 1, but that section is intended for "Executable programs or shell commands". A more appropriate place is section 7: "Miscellaneous (including macro packages and conventions), e.g. man(7), groff(7)". This issue should have been detected earlier by `make check-docs`, but was missed due to a bug in that Makefile target (that we are about to fix). 2013-02-07Merge branch 'jk/remote-helpers-doc'Junio C Hamano1-1/+1
"git help remote-helpers" did not work; 'remote-helpers' is not a subcommand name but a concept, so its documentation should have been in gitremote-helpers, not git-remote-helpers. * jk/remote-helpers-doc: Rename {git- => git}remote-helpers.txt
2013-02-01Rename {git- => git}remote-helpers.txtJohn Keeping1-1/+1
When looking up a topic via "git help <topic>", git-help prepends "git-" to topics that are the names of commands (either builtin or found on the path) and "git" (no hyphen) to any other topic name. "git-remote-helpers" is not the name of a command, so "git help remote-helpers" looks for "gitremote-helpers" and does not find it. Fix this by renaming "git-remote-helpers.txt" to "gitremote-helpers.txt". Signed-off-by: John Keeping <john@keeping.me.uk> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2012-11-29Add new simplified git-remote-testgitFelipe Contreras1-1/+1
Exercising the python remote helper framework is for another tool and another test. This is about testing the remote-helper interface. It's way simpler, it exercises the same features of remote helpers, it's easy to read and understand, and it doesn't depend on python. For now let's just copy the old remote-helpers test script, although some of those tests don't make sense. In addition, this script would be able to test other features not currently being tested. 2011-09-01(short) documentation for the testgit remote helperMatthieu Moy1-0/+30
While it's not a command meant to be used by actual users (hence, not mentionned in git(1)), this command is a very precious help for remote-helpers authors. The best place for such technical doc is the source code, but users may not find it without a link in a manpage.
